Rock climbing

I offer a wide range of guided and instructional rock climbing services. My home patch is North Wales and my experience here is second to none. Here, I’m happy to look after you at all abilities from beginners to guided ascents of classics up to E4/5 if you’d like. For rock climbing elsewhere in the UK, the Alps or somewhere different contact me to chat through your plans.

I’m available on a daily basis with no especially set courses or programmes. If you have a particular route in mind, or you would like to climb the best routes on offer in a particular grade bracket, I’ll be able to make that happen. It could be something out of the book series “Classic, Hard or Extreme Rock”, or maybe any of the brilliant routes excluded from their hallowed pages.  Equally, if you are looking for good, structured and progressive rock climbing instruction, from novice to leader, I can discuss this with you.

Most of these can be done “on the day”. Some routes may require more than one day, for a few warm up climbs and to get to know each other (like any climbing partnership). Sometimes a flexible approach might be required from both of us, with regards to weather, conditions and tides etc., to make some projects happen.  We can chat these aspects through for any specialist requests.

Here are some samples of individual guided days here in Snowdonia that I’ve delivered that could spark a plan in your mind….

Classic Corners and Arêtes, Dinas Cromlech (VS to E3). At Tremadog Grim Wall Direct, Vector, Weaver, Extraction and Plum as an alternative day when our plan of Left Wall, Dinas Cromlech was a bit rainy. For a day of HVS/E1 classics in the Llanberis pass we did Diagonal, Superdirect, Plexus, and Nexus, then warmed up we bagged a short E2 nearby!

A little more traditional might be a day in the Ogwen valley. Milestone Buttress onto east face of Tryfan (then main cliff Glyder Fach?), or perhaps up Idwal Slabs, and then all the continuation walls to the top of the Glyders.  Sometimes after a classic at Gogarth like Dream… or Mousetrap, clients are happy to just relax with an ice cream!
